Before you begin using the scanner, you have several choices to make
concerning how the scanner operates. You need to specify how the scanner
operates in the VME system and how you want to program the scanner.

Selecting VME Operating Mode

The scanner offers two VME operating modes. The mode you select
determines the command set available to the scanner and the memory
structure the scanner uses. You set a switch on the scanner to specify the
operating mode you want.

If you want: select this VME

operating mode:

the scanner to operate exactly as the 6008ĆSV scanner
This mode is compatible with the 6008ĆSV so you can run

previouslyĆdeveloped applications with minor modifications. Select

this mode if you are replacing a 6008ĆSV with a 6008ĆSV2R and do

not want to modify your application.
In any application that uses the SCAN LIST command with the

6008ĆSV scanner, you must modify the command to specify the

rack size.
For more information see chapter 5.

SVĆcompatible

the scanner to use the new commands and additional memory, as

compared to the SVĆcompatible mode
This mode provides additional features, as compared to the 6008ĆSV.
For more information, see chapter 6.
