Using the Command Line Interface

Overview

The Command Line Interface (CLI) is accessible via either a directly connected
terminal session or a Telnet connection. You can use the CLI to:

Change the operational characteristics of the device by setting configuration
values

T

Display system status

T

Perform diagnostics

The system supports multiple simultaneous CLI sessions.

TL1 Command Language

The GranDSLAM 4200 uses Transaction Language No. 1 (TL1) commands since it
is a universal language and is familiar to many network users.

The TL1 command is in the following general format:

COMMAND_CODE:[STAGING PARAMETERS]::<DATA_PARAMETERS>;

where:

The colon (:) is the data block delimiter.

T

The semicolon (;) is the input command terminator.

T

Square brackets ([ ]) designate that the enclosed value is optional.

T

Angled brackets (< >) indicate that the enclosed words describe part of the
command.
