Provides the index into the
interface table ( ifTable ) and to
other MIB tables. It is
recommended that values be
assigned contiguously starting
with 1. The value for each
interface sublayer must remain
constant between NMS
reinitializations. See See

T CONx*: Console port, Layer 1, maximum 1 per
unit, exists in SU, AU, and BU.
T ETHx*: Ethernet management port, Layer 1,
maximum 1 per unit, exists in SU and AU.
T T1x*: T1 interface, Layer 1, maximum 8 per unit,
exists in SU, AU, and BU.
T E1x*: E1 interface, Layer 1, maximum 8 per unit,
exists in SU, AU, and BU.
T ATMx*: ATM uplink, Layer 3, maximum 96 per
unit, exists in SU, AU, and BU.
