Engine: Cummins 4BT 3.9, B4.5T and QSB 4.5T
30. Loosen and remove three capscrews (17) and three
locknuts (18) securing the battery tray (19) to the
engine mount frame.
31. Refer to Section 8.11.2, “Pump Replacement,” for
removal procedures.
32. Loosen, but do not remove, the clamp (20) securing
the air intake hose to the turbocharger.
33. Disconnect the air intake sensor (21)
(1/4" quick- disconnect.)
34. Loosen both hex bolts (22) securing the air cleaner
mounting band to the firewall enough to allow the
hex bolts to slip from the mounting band. Remove
the air cleaner assembly.
a. 644E-42 Fuel Lines and Throttle Disconnect
35. Disconnect the fuel inlet line (23) at the fuel lift
pump. Install a plug in the end of the fuel inlet line.
36. Disconnect the fuel return line (24) from the injection
pump (25).
37. Disconnect the throttle cable (26) at the engine
throttle lever (27). Then remove the throttle bracket
(28).
b. 944E-42 Fuel Lines and ECM Disconnect
38. Disconnect the fuel inlet line (29) at the fuel lift
pump. Install a plug in the end of the fuel inlet line.
39. Disconnect the fuel return line (30) from the injection
pump (31).
40. Disconnect engine wire harness from the ECM (34)
by removing cable plugs (32 and 33).
