Slave Cylinder Pivot Bushing
Replacement

1. Park the vehicle on firm level ground. Place the

travel select lever in the (N) NEUTRAL DETENT
position, engage the parking brake switch and raise
the boom to a horizontal (level) position.

2. Remove the hydraulic hoses (1) connected to the

slave cylinders (2). Plug, cap and label the hoses
and fittings.

3. Working from the top of each Throttle Position

Sensor slave cylinder (2), remove one capscrew (3),
washer (4) and one locknut (5) and slave cylinder
mount pin (6).

4. Secure the slave cylinder with a sling and take up

any slack.

5. Remove the bolt (7) and locknut (8) from the pin (9).

Remove the pin from the slave cylinder (2). Lift,
lower and place the slave cylinder on support blocks
on a firm level surface.

6. Inspect the slave cylinder bearings (10) and (11). If

they are worn and visibly shake on the slave cylinder
pins, replace with new bearings (10) and (11).

Note: If new slave cylinder bearings (10) and (11) have
been installed in the transfer carriage or slave cylinder,
the fracture in the bearing race must be positioned
perpendicular (12
) to the force of the load.

7. Install the lower bearing (10) into the transfer

carriage and the upper bearing (11) into the slave
cylinder (2).

8. Lift the slave cylinder into position on the transfer

carriage.

9. Coat the mounting pin (9) with anti-seize compound.

orient the grease points to the outside of the vehicle.
Install the pin (9) into the bottom of the slave
cylinder (2) and the transfer carriage. Coat the pin
bolt (7) with Loctite

®

242 (blue). Replace pin bolt (7)

and new locknut (8). Torque bolt to, 9 - 22 lb-ft
(17 - 31 Nm).

10. Coat each slave cylinder mount pin (6) with anti-

seize compound. Insert each mount pin through its
circular opening in the boom weldment and through
the slave cylinder mount eye.

11. Coat the capscrews (3) with Loctite

®

242 (blue).

Working from below, insert a capscrew (3) and
washer (4) through each slave cylinder mount pin
plate. Secure the capscrew with a new locknut (5).
Torque capscrews to 18 lb-ft (24 Nm).

12. Grease each bearing with multi-purpose grease.

13. Repeat steps 8 through 12 for the other slave

cylinder.
