Transfer Carriage
16. If the vehicle has dual batteries, connect both
negative battery cables (16 and 17) to both
batteries.
Connect the lower negative battery cable (16) to the
negative (-) terminal on the lower battery (18). Swing
the upper battery box (19) in and make sure that the
lip (20) on the upper battery box slides below the
knob (21). Secure in place with the knob (21).
17. Close and lock the engine compartment cover.
18. Inspect rear rollers. (Refer to Section 11.3.10, “Rear
Roller Gap Check.”)
19. If required, perform rear rollers shimming. (Refer to
Section 11.3.11, “Rear Roller Shimming.”)
11.3.17 Boom Pivot Bushing Replacement
1. Park the vehicle on firm level ground. Place the
travel select lever in the (N) NEUTRAL DETENT
position, engage the parking brake switch and raise
the boom to a horizontal (level) position.
2. Remove the boom as described in Section 3.3.3, a.
“Outer Boom Removal.”
Note: DO NOT apply any grease or anti-seize
compound to bushing or roller pin.
3. Inspect the boom pivot bushings (22). If they are
worn and visibly shake on the boom pivot pin, install
a new self-lubricating bushing (22) into the transfer
carriage (23).
4. Replace boom as described in Section 3.3.3, b.
“Outer Boom Installation.”
