NOTE: The [Hand On] key provides a local start command to the frequency converter. The
[Off] key provides the stop function.
When operating in local mode, [▲] and [▼] increase and decrease the speed output of
the frequency converter. [◄] and [►] move the display cursor in the numeric display.
1. Press [Hand On].
2. Accelerate the frequency converter by pressing [▲] to full speed. Moving the cursor

left of the decimal point provides quicker input changes.

3. Note any acceleration problems.
4. Press [Off].
5. Note any deceleration problems.

If acceleration problems were encountered:

• If warnings or alarms occur, see Warnings and Alarms section for details.
• Check that motor data is entered correctly.
• Increase the ramp-up time in 3–41 Ramp 1 Ramp Up Time
• Increase current limit in 4–18 Current Limit
• Increase torque limit in 4–16 Torque Limit Motor Mode

If deceleration problems were encountered:

• If warnings or alarms occur, see Warnings and Alarms section for details.
• Check that motor data is entered correctly.
• Increase the ramp-down time in 3–42 Ramp 1 Ramp Down Time
• Enable overvoltage control in 2–17 Over-voltage Control

See Local Control Panel for details on resetting the frequency converter after a trip.

System start-up

The procedure in this section requires user-wiring and application programming to be
completed. Application set-up examples are intended to help with this task. Other aids to
application set-up are listed in 1.2 Additional Resources. The following procedure is
recommended after application set-up by the user is completed.

NOTICE:
MOTOR START. Ensure that the motor, system and any attached equipment is ready for
start.

1. Press [Auto On].
2. Ensure that external control function are properly wired to the frequency converter

and all programming is completed.

3. Apply an external run command.
4. Adjust the speed reference throughout the speed range.
5. Remove the external run command.
6. Note any problems.

If warning or alarms occur, see Warnings and Alarms section for details on
troubleshooting.

Acoustic noise or vibration

If the motor or the equipment driven by the motor, for example a pump impeller blade, is
making noise or vibrations at certain frequencies, try the following:

• Speed Bypass, parameter group 4–6*
• Over-modulation, 14–03 Overmodulation set to off
• Switching pattern and switching frequency parameter group 14–0*
• Resonance Dampening, 1–64 Resonance Dampening
