2.3 Installation Checklist
This section is designed to help experienced users start using the
ControlNet module. If you are unsure about how to complete a step,
refer to the referenced chapter.

❒ 1 Review the safety precautions for the

❒ 3 Install the module.
Verify that the drive is not powered. Then,
connect the module to the network using a
ControlNet cable and to the drive using the
Internal Interface cable. Use the captive
screws to secure and ground the module to
the drive. Chapter 3,

❒ 4 Apply power to the module.
The module receives power from the drive.
Apply power to the drive. The status
indicators should be green. If they flash red,
there is a problem. Refer to chapter 8,
Troubleshooting the ControlNet Module and

❒ 5 Configure the module for your
application.
Set the parameters for the following features
as required by your application:
• I/O configuration.
• Fault actions.

❒ 6 Apply power to the ControlNet master and
other devices on the network.
Verify that the master and network are
installed and functioning in accordance with
ControlNet standards, and then apply power
to them.
❒ 7 Configure the scanner to communicate
with the module.
