Now that the CPU chassis is open, locate the PCI-E connectors on the system board.
These are the connectors used to support additional video cards. Refer to
5: CPU System Board with Empty PCI-E Connector Locations”

Note the different types of PCI-E connectors.
a.
PCI-E x16 type video cards can only be installed in the single x16 connector
location, closest to the large round CPU fan.
b.
The PCI-E x4 connector slot is used for video cards with an x1 connector type,
instead of using the x1 connector to provide better airflow for internal CPU
cooling.
c.
The PCI-E x1 connector slot is not used.
3.
If there are existing video cards already installed with the CPU, identify those prior to
making changes. There are a number of ways to distinguish between various models
/ types of video cards that may be installed.
a.
NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290 cards are longer in length than NVIDIA Quadro NVS 300
video cards. Refer to
“Figure C-6: Video Card Length Comparison”
for a size comparison.
