Next, in the Item Type portion of the form, select Check Out Item for
this item to designate this item as a check out item in the application.
When an item is designated as a check out item, each check out item
added to the application will always require a unique item ID. This item
will always be assigned a normal location. The item will reside in this
location unless it is checked out of the application.

If the item is designated as a check out item, the Kit check box
becomes enabled. If this item is a kit check out item, mark the Kit
check box. Any item IDs that are added to a “Kit Check Out Item”
become Kit Item IDs that are available for kit building in the applica-
tion. A kit consists of like item IDs grouped together under a main Kit
Item ID. When you build check out item kits in the application, they
function as one grouped kit when being checked out, reserved, or
retired from the application. For more information about building a kit

If applicable, enter any comments about the application in the Com-
ment area.

At this point, you have entered the basic information pertaining to this
item record. Click the Save button to save the item to the Item List in
the application.

Since the item is a check out item, you are able to add a unique item ID
for each item at the Check Out Details form. To add unique check out
items to your circulating inventory from the Item Data form, please
refer to
“Adding an Item ID” on page 149
Adding an Item ID
Once you save the check out item to the application, enter the item IDs for
it. Remember, if you mark the Kit check box, any item IDs added will be
available as Kit Item IDs for kit building in the application. When an item
