Deleting a Kit

To delete a kit, you must delete the check out item at the Item Data form.
When you delete the check out item from the application, all associated kit
item IDs and any assembled kits are also deleted.

For more information about deleting an item record, please refer to

“Delet-

ing an Item Record” on page 160

.

(If you do not want to delete the entire kit item at the Item Data form, you
may delete the items in a kit, which leaves a blank kit ID. Please refer to

“Changing a Kit” on page 210

for information on deleting the items

included in a kit.)

Retiring a Kit
from Active
Status

You may also retire a kit from active status. For more information about
retiring a kit, please refer to

“Retiring Items from the Retire Form” on

page 214

.

Retiring Items from the Retire Form

The “Retire” function is used to remove check-out items from active sta-
tus. Retiring the item allows it to be tracked as a retired item until it can be
totally deleted from inventory. When you retire a kit item ID, all item IDs
in the kit are also retired. If you retire an item ID that is part of the kit, the
item ID is removed from the kit at the time it is retired.

The Retire form is similar to the Check In or Out forms. You can retire
multiple items at the same time. Retired items are removed from the
Inventory by Location table and added to the table tblRetired. If Log-
ging
is enabled, an entry is made in the History table. The system allows
you to retire consumable items, however, before retiring a consumable
item, be sure that you want to eventually remove it from the system.

1.

Retire form appears.
