Inputs and outputs may be named on an I/O map display. Additionally on this
display, the outputs may be defined as normally open (NO) or normally closed
(NC).

Logic statements may be chained together using the Statement ### Event.

These features allow moderately complex vacuum processing plants to be
controlled without the addition of any other intelligent machines.

Fourteen TTL inputs and eight relay outputs are standard. An additional fourteen
inputs and eight relay outputs are available with an optional I/O card. With a second
optional I/O card, eight more relays and fourteen open collector outputs are
available.
The Cygnus 2 has the capacity for 100 logic statements.

8.2 Editing the Logic Statements

All Materials must be in Ready, Idle or Stop to edit or create logic statements. Logic
Set-Up is initiated by moving the cursor to the Logic heading on the Main Menu and
pressing MENU. This will invoke the Logic display (see

Figure 8-1

). You may return

to the Main Menu display by pressing MENU again. Upon entry to the Logic display,
the cursor will be placed at the last referenced Logic statement.
There will be an indication for each statement programmed, (the > symbol next to
the statement number) and an indication that the statement is True (green color
change and three stars *** will be present).

Figure 8-1 Logic overview page

Logic statements that are "true" are indicated in green and with *** asteriks.
