ENGINE START
CHECK
Operator on seat.
Put hydrostatic control
lever in N/STOP
position.
Put PTO lever in OFF
position.
Pull choke knob all the
way out.
Depress brake pedal(s).

Turn key switch to
START position.
Starter must crank
engine. Engine must
start.
OK: GO TO

NOT OK: GO TO

Run engine at half throttle.
Quickly pull choke knob all the way out, then
push in.
LISTEN: Engine must falter, then resume speed.
OK: GO TO

Run engine at full throttle.
LOOK: Oil pressure lamp must go OFF.
Remove air cleaner cover.
LOOK: Air filter must not be oil soaked.
OK: GO TO

STAYS ON: Test oil
pressure sender in
Section 240. If sender
is OK and lamp is still
on, then GO TO

CAUTION: Engine exhaust fumes can
cause sickness or death. If running an engine
in an enclosed area, remove the exhaust
fumes from the area with an exhaust pipe
extension.
If you do not have an exhaust pipe extension,
open the doors and get outside air into the area.
