Layers

The Layers function controls objects you wish to display or hide on the Chart
window pane. Turning layers on can help you navigate the chart more easily in
cases where more information is needed; turning layers off can free the chart of
extraneous information that hinders you from easily making navigation choices.

Soundings. A check-mark in this box “declutters” similar depth soundings from
quilted charts to make the charts more readable. Use with caution.
Nav Aids. A check-mark in this box displays all lights, buoys, and markers.
Land Features. Used to display or not display features such as bridges, towers,
city outlines, buildings, etc.
Contours. Isobaths and their coloring are turned on or off with this setting.
Other Features. A check-mark in this box displays navigation and other chart
information such as channel names.
Nav Objects. Removing the check-mark from this box turns off the display of
any user-created Nav Objects, such as marks, routes, etc. from the chart. (Nav
Objects will appear again with check-mark).
Outlines. Cycles the display of individual chart outlines on or off.
Compass. This setting cycles the display of a Compass Indicator on or off. Use
System Menu | Tools/Settings | Options | Misc. tab to determine the format of
your compass (standard or compass rose). This also controls the green check
box that appears in the Radar Overlay.

Radar Overlay

This setting cycles the Radar Overlay on the Chart window pane On or Off.

Autoscroll

No Autoscroll. Turns off any active Autoscroll mode.
Follow Boat. When the boat icon is moving in the chart window, this feature
automatically scrolls the chart while keeping the boat icon in the center of the
screen.
Look Ahead. When the boat icon is moving in the chart window, this feature
automatically scrolls the chart while keeping the boat icon at the lowermost point
of the screen.
