9 - Using Nav Objects

Boundaries

Boundaries mark an area that you want to avoid or areas you do not want your
boat to cross. An alarm will sound when the boat or its predictor line crosses over a
boundary if you have turned on the alarm feature. Types of boundaries are: Circle
Boundaries
, Closed Boundaries and Line Boundaries.
The chart will scroll if a route or boundary border extends beyond the chart window
pane. An adjacent chart will open as needed. This creates routes and boundaries
without interruption. Use the

+

and

-

keys to zoom in or out on the Chart window

pane when creating a Route or Boundary.

To Create a Closed or Line Boundary

With cursor focus on the chart, click Context Menu | Nav Objects | Add Line
Boundary
; or right-click on the chart and select Context Menu | Nav Objects |

Left-click on the chart to place the first boundary point and then move and click
the cursor on the next boundary point position. A line will be drawn between each
point, and range / bearing text displayed next to the cursor.
Continue clicking until the boundary is completed. To create a closed boundary,
click on the first boundary point.
Double-click or right-click on the last boundary point location or click

L

.

Enter a boundary name or accept the default name (date boundary was created).
If Alarm has been activated in the Boundary Properties panel of the SysInfo
window pane or in Data Manager, an alarm will sound every 30 seconds if your
boat crosses the boundary line.

NOTE:

Closed Line Boundaries can be filled using the Fill area feature on the

Properties panel of the SysInfo window pane.

To Create a Circle Boundary

With cursor focus on the chart, click Context Menu | Nav Objects | Add Circle
Boundary
; or right-click on the chart and select Context Menu | Nav Objects |

Click on the chart to place the center of the circle boundary.
A circle will be drawn around the point you clicked, with a default radius of 500
feet. Drag and drop the circle to expand or contract the radius.
Enter a boundary name or accept the default name (date boundary was created).
If Alarm has been activated in the Boundary Properties panel of the SysInfo
window pane or Data Manager, an alarm will sound if your boat crosses the
circle boundary line (inside or outside of the boundary, depending on the Alarm
setting.

NOTE:

Circle Boundaries can be filled using the Fill Area feature on the

Properties panel of the SysInfo window pane.
