9 - Using Nav Objects

Glossary for this Chapter

Chart

Jeppesen Workboat Navigator allows you to view both vector
charts and raster charts. All charts are provided at a specific
native scale (i.e. 1:15,000).

Chart
Window
Pane

The section in the divided window pane layout of Jeppesen
Workboat Navigator devoted to displaying and manipulating
charts (Raster, Vector, etc.). You can determine Chart window
pane location on-screen and all Jeppesen Workboat Navigator
layout using View Manger.

SysInfo
Window
Pane

The portion of Jeppesen Workboat Navigator devoted to
providing system information and managing various features of
the program. Like the Chart window pane, manage the SysInfo
window pane using View Manger.

Nav
Objects

User-created objects on the Chart window pane, such as
Routes, Marks, Waypoints, Boundaries.

General Nav Object Skills

Man Overboard

Man Overboard objects are unique because they are not managed using the
Properties panel of the SysInfo window pane or the View Manager. Man Overboard
objects default as locked objects. Man Overboard properties can only be edited by
unlocking it.

To Create a Man Overboard Object

Click Man Overboard on the Workboat Navigator Main Toolbar, Add MOB from
the MOB - Man Overboard panel of the SysInfo window pane, or the

Hot Key.

The chart will re-center and place the icon directly under the boat.
The Man Overboard mark will become the active mark, with location, distance,
and elapsed time information displayed in the MOB - Man Overboard panel of
the SysInfo window pane.
If you click Man Overboard or

n

when a Chart window pane is not visible,

Jeppesen Workboat Navigator will revert to the default 3-panel layout.

To Move a Man Overboard

Man Overboard objects can only be moved by unlocking them.

Click and drag on the Man Overboard icon on the Chart window pane
A pop-up window will appear. Click Yes to unlock the Man Overboard object, or
No to leave the Man Overboard in its original location.
Once the object is unlocked, you can drag and drop the object anywhere on the
Chart window pane.
