PAP authentication request. The password argument is 1-32 alphanumeric

SNMP S

ETTINGS

Enter the SNMP node by entering SNMP from the router node as shown:

(ROUTER snmp)>>

The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) lets a network
administrator monitor problems on a network by retrieving settings on remote
network devices. The network administrator typically runs an SNMP
management station program on a local host to obtain information from an
SNMP agent such as the SHARK™ IAD. When the SHARK™ IAD generates
a trap message it will send an SNMP trap code to the SNMP administrator
identified by this page. The SNMP trap codes are defined in Appendix B

contact

set contact contact_info
Identifies the system contact, such as the name, phone number, beeper number,
or email address of the person responsible for the SHARK™ IAD. You can
enter up to 256 characters for the contact_info argument. You must put the
contact_info argument in double-quotes if it contains embedded spaces.

location

set location location_info
Identifies the location, such as the building, floor, or room number, of the
SHARK™ IAD. You can enter up to 256 characters for the location_info
argument. You must put the location_info argument in double-quotes if it
contains embedded spaces.

get-community

set get-community name
Configures the get community associated with the SHARK™ IAD. By
default, the SHARK™ IAD is associated with the public community.

traps

set trap-general-alarm { on | off }
Enables or disables SNMP trapping. If SNMP trapping is enabled, your
SHARK™ IAD will send authentication traps to all SNMP trap destinations.
You must enable trap authentication before you set up your trap destinations.

ip-traps address

set trap-dest-address nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn
Identifies the destination for SNMP trap messages. The address argument is
the IP address of the host acting as an SNMP console.

trap-community

set get-community name
Configures the trap community associated with the SHARK™ IAD. By
default, the SHARK™ IAD is associated with the public community.
