Restricting Communication To/From Specific Destinations (TX/RX Restriction)

The TX/RX Restriction function allows you to limit to and from whom fax communication can be
accomplished by making it necessary to meet specific conditions regarding certain passwords.

More specifically, the passwords (Permit Fax Number and Permit ID) are registered in advance and
TX/RX Restriction is turned ON. No special settings are required during the operation to transmit or
receive faxes. When actual transmission or reception of documents begins, communications that
satisfy the specific password conditions will be carried out and communications that do not satisfy
these conditions will result in an error. In addition, by registering Reject Fax Numbers, you can
prohibit fax reception from those numbers.

NOTE: Prior to using the TX/RX Restriction function, carefully read Prerequisites and Conditions
Required for Successful Communication
below in addition to consulting with those parties to and
from whom communication will be allowed.

Prerequisites

You must register the desired password (Permit Fax Number, Permit ID and/or Reject Fax
Number) in your fax in advance.

The other party must register its local FAX Number or local ID in its own fax in advance.

It is necessary to turn ON the TX/RX Restriction function in advance. Refer to Turning Fax
Forwarding ON/OFF
on page 5-36
.

Conditions Required for Successful Communication

When transmitting faxes, the Permit Fax Number registered in your fax must match the local
FAX Number registered in the other party's fax. When receiving faxes, the Permit Fax Number
registered in your fax must match the local Fax Number registered in the other party's fax, and
the other party's fax must not match any of the registered Reject Fax Numbers. Fax reception
will also be possible if [Reject List] is selected as the reception restriction setting under TX/RX
Restriction and there no Reject Fax Numbers registered in your fax, or if there are no Reject
Fax Numbers registered in your fax and there is also no local Fax Number registered in the
other party's fax.

The Permit ID registered in your fax must match the self-station ID registered in the other
party's fax.

When you are transmitting documents and the other party's fax number is dialed with a
one-touch key, the last 4 digits of the registered number must match the last 4 digits of the other
party's local FAX Number (not applicable with Manual Fax Transmission).

When you are receiving documents, the last 4 digits of a fax number registered under one of
your one-touch keys must match the 4 digits of the transmitting party's local FAX Number.

Registering New Permit Fax Numbers

NOTE: You can register up to 5 numbers as Permit Fax Numbers in this fax.

If you want to cancel the procedure part way through, press the Reset key. The touch panel will
