500/2500 Line Disconnect for Outgoing Calls

When devices such as dictation machines are connected to an analog
(500/2500-type) line port, they rely on detecting a tone to indicate that the
far end has released. This is necessary because the line conditions on an
analog (500/2500-type) circuit do not change regardless of the status of
the far end.

Currently, when a system detects an on-hook/disconnect supervision signal
from a party on a trunk that provides disconnect supervision, and the trunk
is connected to an analog (500/2500-type) port with the Line Disconnect
Tone Allowed (LDTA) Class of Service, dial tone is sent for the time specified
in the Customer Data Block. Thus, the device physically connected to the
500/2500 port disconnects itself and the line port as well. This functionality
is used in applications requiring predictive dialing; however, previously it
was limited to incoming calls.

The 500/2500 Line Disconnect for Outgoing Calls feature expands the
500/2500 Disconnect capability to encompass outgoing calls.
