CAUTION

The user should not attempt to adjust or
change the setting of the relief valve.

5.

Because of the potential for system damage,
the relief valve is carefully and precisely preset
by the manufacturer.

6-2.4

Splitting Wedge.

As normal wear occurs, peri-

odically adjust the bolts on the slide plate
(beneath the splitting wedge) as follows to
eliminate the excess space between the
wedge plate and the beam:

1.

Loosen three hex bolts on top of slide plate
(beneath splitting wedge). See Figure 6-6.

2.

Back two adjustment bolts on the side of slide
plate out slowly until wedge assembly will slide
on beam. Tighten lock nuts securely against
base of slide plate to hold bolts in this position.

3.

Retighten three hex bolts on top of slide plate.

6-2.5

Flexible Pump Coupler Replacement.

The

flexible pump coupler is a nylon spider insert
located between the pump and engine shaft.
The alignment is very critical. Over a period of
time, the coupler will harden and deteriorate.
For a replacement flexible pump coupler, order
part number 717-0891. Replace as follows:

CAUTION

Never hit the pump shaft in any manner as any
blow will cause permanent damage to the
pump.

1.

Place coupling half onto engine shaft. Make
certain there is clearance between coupling
half and engine. Tighten set screw.

2.

Mount pump onto coupling support bracket.
Tighten securely.

3.

Carefully slide coupling half onto pump shaft
(make certain set screw is loose). Slide key
into place on shaft.

4.

Install nylon spider insert into coupling half on
engine shaft.

5.

Place coupling shield in position on hex bolts.
Rotate keyway on pump shaft so it is toward
the bottom.

6.

Attach coupling support bracket to hex bolts,
carefully sliding coupling half over spider
insert. Secure coupling shield and coupling
support bracket with lock washers and hex
nuts. Tighten securely.

7. Adjust two coupling halves (steel) so there is

between .010 and .060 inch clearance
between the two halves (at least the thickness
of a matchbook cover). Make certain proper
clearance is obtained. Tighten set screw in
coupling half on pump shaft. See Figure 6-7.
