2. Place the square key into the crankshaft key-

way making certain it is flush with the end of
the crankshaft.

3. Tap the key into the key-way with a small ham-

mer to make certain it is parallel with the crank-
shaft.

4. Slide the upper coupling half over the crank-

shaft and square key until the inner portion of
the coupling is flush with the end of the crank-
shaft.

Secure the upper coupling half in position
using an 1/8" allen wrench.

6. Loosen the set screw securing the lower cou-

pling half to the gear pump input shaft using an
1/8" allen.

7. Install the nylon “spider” into the lower coupling

half. See Figure 6-118.

8. Align the lower coupling half and nylon “spider”

with the upper coupling half on the engine
crank-shaft.

9. Raise the lower coupling half and spider up

into the upper coupling half.

10. Place a .010 to .060 feeler gauge between the

nylon “spider” and the upper coupling half.

11. Apply upward pressure to the lower coupling

half and nylon “spider”.

12. Secure the lower coupling half in position using

an 1/8" allen wrench. See Figure 6-119.
