The hydraulic pump is one of two types. As
complete units, the two pumps are inter-
changeable (refer to parts list for part number).
If it is necessary to determine the specific type
of pump on your unit, refer to Figures 6-16 and
6-17.

6-4.4

The engagement handle has 3 positions:

1.

Forward—ram moves toward wedge.

2.

Neutral—ram stops in place.

3.

Reverse—ram returns. See Figure 6-18.

NOTE

Periodically lubricate the area of the engage-
ment handle which contracts the slotted
bracket on the beam to prevent excessive
wear.

NOTE

If you lock the engagement handle in the
reverse slot, the ram will return until it hits the
engagement bracket, which will throw the
engagement handle into neutral automatically.

6-4.5

The ram should take approximately 13 sec-
onds to make a complete cycle. This speed
may vary depending on throttle setting and
temperature of hydraulic fluid.

CAUTION

You must not operate log splitter without
proper amount of oil in reservoir tank (Beam).

6-4.6
