Connecting to the Internet requires that you subscribe to an
Internet Service Provider (ISP). There are many service
providers to choose from.

Network topologies

DEFINITION: A topology is the physical layout of the network,
including how the devices are connected.

The Magnia SG20 supports several network topologies,
including:

Stand-alone with modem/ISDN adapter connection

Stand-alone with broadband connection

Corporate environment

Stand-alone with modem connection

This is a widely used topology. It has these characteristics:

Modem connection

The Magnia SG20 is used as the sole (stand-alone) server
within the network.

The modem port allows dialing out to the Internet.

Modem port

Firewall

Up to seven client computers

Wireless access to additional clients
