runtime users who are permitted to login and view reports at
the same time. This allows the System Administrator greater
flexibility managing user activations.
The following types of the RSBizWare Runtime Client
activations are available:
• Single-User Runtime Client activations
Assign these activations to the Information Services
Manager in sufficient quantity to accommodate the total
number of concurrently connected Runtime users.
• Unlimited-User Runtime Client activation
Assign these activations to the Information Services
Manager if you want to allow any number of users (limited
by hardware availability and network performance) to
connect concurrently.
This option is recommended if a large number of
concurrent users is expected.
• FactoryTalk Metrics Author activations
The Author activations are single-user activations that add the
ability to configure the FactoryTalk Metrics application,
configure data collection, develop custom reports, and publish
them for use by runtime users.
One FactoryTalk Metrics Author activation is included with
each Metrics Server Manager activation.
The FactoryTalk Metrics Author activations are assigned to
individual user accounts. However, these activations
determine the total number of concurrent users who are
permitted to log on and perform authoring functions at the
same time. This allows the System Administrator to assign all
potential authoring users a FactoryTalk Metrics Author
activation provided the concurrent number of logged on
authors does not exceed the total number of FactoryTalk
Metrics Author activations installed. Additional authoring
privileges (such as Manage Performance Parameters, Manage
