If you want to use the User-Defined Summarization Fields
(Flex-Fields) in you configuration, configure them in the
Metrics Server Manager (page 76).
A summarization criterion is a FactoryTalk Metrics Performance
Parameter field for which you can collect activity area data. There
are the following default summarization criteria:
• Shift
• Part Id
• Ideal Cycle Time
When the value of the field changes, it triggers the summarization of
historical performance data for the activity area in the FactoryTalk
Metrics Workcell History report data source. The collected values
can then be used to filter OEE performance data for the activity
area. For example, if your system is configured to collect Part Id for
an activity area, you will be able to calculate the OEE performance
for the activity area when it is producing a particular kind of part.
Apart from the default summarization criteria, you can configure up
to 5 user-defined summarization criteria, or flex-fields, to represent
the fields that are most important to your organization.
Sample uses of user-defined summarization criteria include:
• An Operator ID criterion that will allow you to collect
operator IDs and to report on the OEE value for a specific
operator.
• A Lot Number criterion that will allow you to collect lot
numbers and report on the OEE value for a specific lot of
products.
• A Test Run State criterion that will allow you to report on the
OEE value for parts that were produced when the activity area
was in a production state only.
