Controlling access to your RSBizWare system Chapter 8

The activation includes a FactoryTalk Historian Classic Server
with 1500 Reporting Tag Limit activation and an RSBizWare
Single-User Author Client activation.

User accounts are used to authenticate, and authorize or deny access
to individual users in your FactoryTalk automation system. User
accounts are also used to audit user activity.

A user group account is a collection of user accounts that you can
use to simplify the administration of security permissions. Users
belonging to a particular group receive all of the permissions and

rights that you assign to the group. By changing a user's group
memberships, you can quickly change the resources to which the
user has access.

The process of creating FactoryTalk users was already discussed in
the following sections:

• "Step 12: Configure FactoryTalk groups and users (page 60)"

• "Configure Windows-linked FactoryTalk users (page 60)"
• "Configure FactoryTalk users (page 64)"

In this chapter you will learn about:

• "Configuring FactoryTalk user groups (page 231)"
• "Configuring Windows-linked user groups (page 233)"
• "Updating the Service Console with users and groups changes

(page 235)"

To create a FactoryTalk user group:

1. Open the FactoryTalk Administration Console.
2. Expand System > Users and Groups.
