Chapter 9 Managing user access

5. Select the check boxes to the left of the default permissions

that you want to grant to the user.

6. Repeat the steps for other users (the Users tab), users groups

(the Groups tab), and the general access (the Everyone tab).

7. Click Save.

After you have assigned default permissions for a type of object, the

creator of a new object of that type may choose to customize the
permissions for his object by revoking a user’s permissions for his
new object or granting permissions for his new object to a user who
does not have the default permission.

For example, if JLSmith was given the default "Edit Report Object"
permission, we can create a new report object and revoke JLSmith’s
custom "Edit Report Object" permission for this report object so
Smith cannot edit our new report object. Or we can grant the

custom "Edit Report Object" permission to another user, LMJones,
allowing Jones to edit our report object regardless of whether he has
the default "Edit Report Object" permission.

Custom object permissions are assigned to users and groups in the
Configuration Console. For details, see the Configuration Console
online help, section "Configure permissions for an object".
