NOTE

Before you can assign default permissions to a type of object that is used
in the Configuration Console, you must create security groups and users.
For details, see "Step 12: Configure FactoryTalk groups and users (page

60)".

Object permission is a privilege that is granted to security groups or
individual users that allows access to a specific object within the

client application. An example of an object permission for which
users and groups can be given privileges is the ability to edit a
particular report object.

There are the following types of object permissions:

• Default object permissions (page 238).
• Custom object permissions (page 242).

You may set the baseline permissions that will be given to a certain
group or user for every instance of an object type that is created.

For example, if you want the user "JLSmith" to have permission to
edit every report object that is ever created, you need to set the "Edit
