Chapter 3 Installing RSBizWare

TIPS

• If you have chosen the installation on two computers, perform the

following steps on the Database server computer.

• It is recommended that you create a Windows user account or a

Windows Domain user account on the computer on which you are
installing SQL Server. You will use this account to install and

configure SQL Server.
For details, refer to the Microsoft Windows user documentation.

• If you already have an SQL Server installed, check (page 39) if its

configuration meets the configuration requirements of RSBizWare.

The FactoryTalk Historian Classic and FactoryTalk Metrics require
a single database for permanent storage. Although the applications

share the same database, each of them uses unique tables to support
its core functions. The database is referred to as the RSBizWare
database. It can be either a Microsoft SQL Server database or an
Oracle database.

If you plan to use Microsoft SQL Server, follow the steps presented
in these sections.

If you plan to use Oracle, see "Using Oracle with RSBizWare (page
262)".

To install SQL Server:

1. Run the SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 installation DVD.

The SQL Server Installation Center wizard appears.

2. Click Installation, and then click New SQL Server

stand-alone installation or add features to an existing
installation
.
