Chapter 11 Reporting diagnostic messages

Buffer Size of zero will turn off all buffering so that
diagnostic messages are written as events occur.

7. In the Number of log file revisions to keep box, type the

number of revisions of the log file that you want to store for
diagnostic purposes. Keep the following in mind:

• If you specify a number greater than zero, the server will

create a new log file each time it is started, up to the number
of revisions specified.

• After the number of revisions is reached, the server will

begin to overwrite the existing log files.

8. Under Logging Options, select the check boxes under each

type of the diagnostic messages to associate them with the
available ways of logging the messages.

NOTE:

Since the servers and FactoryTalk Transaction Manager
configurations produce a large quantity of debug messages,
selecting the Debug option can significantly increase the size of
the log file, and significantly affect performance. This option is

not recommended unless you are trying to troubleshoot a
problem.

9. In the From Address box, type the e-mail address from which

you want the log report e-mails to be sent.

10. In the To Address box, type the e-mail address to which you

want to the log report e-mails to be sent.

11. In the Password box, type the password for the e-mail address

that you provided in the From Address box.

12. In the SMTP Server box, type the name of the outgoing

e-mail server to be used for sending the log report e-mails.

13. Click Apply.
14. Restart the server or the configuration for which you have set

the log file configuration.
