INSTALLATION

8-5

1557-UM050F-EN-P – June 2013

D) Only persons familiar with the function of the drive should have access to the equipment.

E) The losses in the drive produce a definite heat dissipation depending on the unit size, which tends to

warm the air in the room. Attention must be given to the room ventilation and cooling requirements to
ensure that the proper environmental conditions are met.

F) Operational altitude is 3300 feet (1km) maximum without derating.

G) The area of the drive should be free of radio frequency interference such as encountered with some

welding units. This may cause erroneous fault conditions and shutdown the drive system.

H) The floor should be level and have provision for the drive anchor bolts. The drive does not require rear

access for servicing. The front of the drive requires 44-in. clearance area for service access. Because
of forced air cooling, the areas at the top of the drive must be clear and not inhibit airflow.

CAUTION: An incorrectly applied or installed drive can result in component
damage or a reduction in product life. Wiring or application errors, such as,
undersizing the motor, incorrect or inadequate AC supply, or ambient
temperatures above or below the specified temperature range may result in
malfunction of the drive.

Mounting

Standard drive cabinet drawings with certified dimension drawings can be obtained by contacting the local
Rockwell Automation Sales office. Refer to drawings for mounting requirements.

Installation

Once the drive is at its installation area, the lag bolts, which fasten the shipping skid to the drive, must be
removed and the shipping skid discarded.

The drive should be securely fastened in an upright position on a level surface.

After the drive has been placed in its location, the floor mounting bolts may be installed and tightened.
(1/2-in. anchor bolts).

Top lifting angles must be removed.

There are several different arrangements of fans for the drive.

When all the fans are already installed in the drive, the ventilation hoods must be installed at each fan
after the lifting angles have been removed. Retain the fasteners from the lifting angles.

When "Rotron" fans are to be installed on site, the fan complete with mounting plate must be installed and
fan leads connected. The ventilation hood must then be installed.
( see Figure 8.3 )

When "Ziehl" fans are to be installed on site, the inlet rings must be installed on the top sheet, then the fan
complete with mounting plate and ventilation hood. Leads for the fans are to be routed through the flexible
conduit.
