Application of Medium Voltage

ATTENTION: Medium voltage power levels must be applied to the drive to
perform the following start-up procedure. To avoid electric shock hazard, or
damage to equipment, only qualified service personnel should perform the
following procedure. Thoroughly read and understand the procedure before
beginning. If an event does not occur while performing this procedure, DO
NOT PROCEED. Remove power, and lock out the source. Confirm
discharge of stored energy. Correct the malfunction before continuing.

1.

Confirm that all medium voltage safety doors are closed and all interlocks are functional. All Kirk Keys, if
used, should be functional.

2.

Ensure that parameter "Test mode" is set to zero. This is the normal operating mode.

3.

Make sure the contactor configuration is correctly entered. The explanation for this may be found in
Chapter 6. To change the contactor configuration, press the "SETUP" (F8) softkey from the top level
main screen. Press the "PARAMS" (F7) softkey. The left figure (below) will display the parameter
screen. Select the "P Feature Select" group and press return. The right figure (below) shows the current
setting. Press return to change the contactor configuration.

4.

Apply Medium Voltage levels, by raising the isolation switch on the input section. The input contactor will
also need to be closed. Ensure the status display indicates a ready condition. Check the line voltage, as
shown below, from the terminal to confirm optimum nominal input voltage. From the top level menu,
press "DISPLAY" (F4) softkey. Using the "NEXT PG" (F8) softkey select the third page, and using the
arrow keys, cursor down to "V Current Contrl" and press enter. You may now view the per unit line
voltage (based on the rated motor voltage).
