Documenting Shutdowns

Any faults, warnings, or messages displayed on panel view should be thoroughly documented by the user
prior to reset those messages. This will assist maintenance personnel in correcting problems and
ensuring they do not recur.

Printed Circuit Card Replacement

The replacement of printed circuit boards should be handled in a careful and deliberate manner. There
some precautions that should be taken.

Remove all power to the drive.

Do not remove the replacement board from the anti-static bag, until necessary.

Use anti-static wrist strap.

1. Note the location and orientation of the ribbon cables and carefully detach them.

2. Remove all screws or extract the board from the plastic holders. Be especially careful not to drop any

screws or washers into other circuits or devices. It is necessary to cover these devices.

3. Remove the board. Remove the replacement board from the anti-static bag. Ensure the replacement

board is of the correct type before re-installing. Confirm that any adjustments to the new boards are
made prior to putting the drive back in service. Put the defective board in the anti-static bag.

4. Retest the board to verify the installation was successful. Confirm the proper revision level of memory

in the control boards.

5. If the board is to be returned for repair or exchange, contact your local Rockwell Automation service

representative to obtain a RA# (return authorization number). Attach this number and a description of
the problem, to facilitate quick turnaround of the repair.
