Advanced HotSync ® operations
Preparing your computer
The following few steps must be performed to prepare your computer for a
modem HotSync operation. Be sure to perform these steps before you leave
your office or home so that your computer is ready to receive a call from
your CLIÉ handheld.

Verify the following, to prepare your computer for a modem
HotSync operation:
• The computer modem is connected to your computer and both the
modem and computer are turned on.
• No communication applications, such as fax or telephony software,
are running on the COM port.
• The computer is disconnected from all online services. This helps to
avoid conflicts with the COM port.

Click the HotSync icon in the Windows task tray (bottom-
right corner of the taskbar) and select Modem from the
shortcut menu.

Click the HotSync icon in the Windows task tray again
and select Setup from the shortcut menu.
The Setup dialog box is displayed.

Click the Modem tab.
