Load Bank Mode

The SSBM and SSBM with SMB are both equipped with Load Bank Tabs for the

connection of a temporary load bank.
The Load Bank Tabs allow load testing to be performed on the UPMs or Bypass

input portion of the SSBM or SSBM with SMB.
The SSBM comes standard with temporary Load Bank tabs only.
Figure 7---4 shows the path of electrical power through an SSBM in Load Bank

Mode with Load Bank tabs connected to a temporary Load Bank. Only UPM1 is

shown under testing.
Figure 7---5 shows the path of electrical power through an SSBM with SMB in Load

Bank mode with Load Bank Tabs when connected to a temporary Load Bank. The

SMB is in Maintenance Bypass mode carrying the Critical Load while UPM1 is

shown under testing.

WARNING:

During testing, cables connecting the temporary load bank to the load

bank tabs will have to exit the SSBM or SSBM with SBM via an open

rear door. With the rear door open, personnel are exposed to

energized buswork. To prevent injury from electrical shock, temporary

barriers and warning signs should be established.
