The text form of output Figure 6.1 can be readily viewed in any text editor (such as Note-
pad) or a word processor (such as Microsoft

Word). Because of the column-oriented

data, it should be viewed in a fixed-size font, such as Courier or Line Printer, rather than a
proportional font, such as Times Roman.

The data file form of output, Figure 6.2, saves the same information with commas
between each value. This form is commonly referred to as “comma-separated values” and
uses the default extension “.csv.” Many programs like Microsoft

grams to view, sort (e.g., all Mondays or all 8-9
