The following feature measurements are supported by the QC5200:
• Points • Slots
• Lines • Distances
• Arcs • Angles
• Circles • Profiles
Features can be probed manually using crosshairs or optical edge detection. Features can also be probed
automatically as part of a program run using optical edge detection in systems that include CNC stages.
NOTE
Automatic probing is discussed in more detail in Chapter 8: Programming.
Probing with crosshairs
To probe a feature using crosshairs:
1 Click the Probe/Crosshair menu item.
2 Select the desired feature type or Measure
Magic from the Measure menu or from the mea-
sure toolbar.
3 Align the center of the crosshairs over a de-
sired location on the feature and then click Enter Pt
in the Measure dialog box.
If a measurement error occurs, click Remove Last
in the measure dialog box to remove the last point
probed, or click Cancel to cancel the entire feature
measurement.
When all the required points have been probed,
click OK in the measure dialog box. The feature
will be added to the Features template and to the
Part View window. Measurement results will be
shown in the Results window.
