Bump Test Application

Chapter 7

Collecting Bump Test Measurements

When you are finished setting up the options, you are ready to collect Bump Test
data.

1.

To start collecting data, press F4 (Start) on the Bump Test - Setup screen.

The Bump Test - Taking Data screen appears.

Using an impacting device, hit the machine.

Notice the natural frequency spectral peaks displayed on the screen.

If you need to pause the data on the screen, press F4 (Pause). The Pause function
becomes the Start function. To start collecting data again, press F4 (Start).

Use the LEFT and RIGHT ARROW keys to move the cursor across the X axis
to determine the natural frequencies. Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to
change the scale on the Y axis.

Press the P key to move the cursor to the next significant peak. And to display the
harmonic cursors, press the H key. Each time you press H, it toggles among three
functions.

On pressing H

Function

Once

Enables the harmonic cursors. Press the LEFT and RIGHT
ARROW keys to move the harmonic cursors.

Twice

The cursor line is displayed with the harmonic cursors.
Press the LEFT and RIGHT ARROW keys to move only a
single cursor, leaving the harmonic cursors locked in
position.

Thrice

Turns the harmonic cursors off; use only a single cursor.
