Chapter 8

Balancing Application

3.

The Enpac 2500 calculates the trial weight (mass), the angle, and the
radius using the following formula.

To Take the Trial Weight Measurement

1.

Once the trial weight information has been entered, attach the trial weight
to the rotor in the second plane.

2.

With the trial weight attached securely, restart the machine and allow it to
reach operating speed.

3.

Press READ/OK to take a plane 2 trial weight measurement.

4.

The Enpac 2500 asks if the transducer is attached to plane 1. If the
transducer is attached, press the F4 (OK) button to measure plane 1 speed,
vibration, and phase.

The data collector automatically measures the speed, vibration, and phase
in the first plane and constantly updates the values on the screen.

5.

When the speed, vibration, and phase values are stable, press READ/OK.
This completes the plane 1 measurement.

6.

The data collector asks you if the transducer is attached to plane 2. If the
transducer is attached, press the F4 (OK) to measure plane 2 speed,
vibration, and phase.

The data collector automatically measures the speed, vibration, and phase
in the second plane and constantly updates the values on the screen.

7.

When the values stabilize, press READ/OK to complete the
measurement.

The following message appears asking if the trial weight is still attached to
plane 2.

8.

Press F2 (Yes) if the weight is still attached to the rotor in plane 2. Press F3
(No) if the weight has been removed from the rotor in plane 2.

9.

Shut down the machine. Continue the balancing procedure in the next
section.
