• VCM automatically deletes the network policies from the edge switch connected to the VMs when
the VMs are shut down.
• When the VMs migrate between the ESXi hosts, the network policies are moved along with the
VMs automatically.
Configuration prerequisites
Make sure you have completed the following tasks before configuring the VCM EVB scheme:
• Install the VMware vSphere 5.0 or higher on each ESXi host, and assign 192.168.5.21/24 and
192.168.5.22/24 to ESXi A and ESXi B, respectively.
• Install HP FlexFabric Virtual Switch 5900v on ESXi A and assign 192.168.1.221/24 to 5900v. After
you install the 5900v, you can use the EVB-capable vSwitch on the vCenter Server.
• Connect the two ESXi hosts directly to an HP Comware-based switch that supports EVB, and assign
IP address 172.200.100.1/24 to the switch.
• Deploy VMware vCenter Server and IMC at the management center, and assign
192.168.1.222/24 and 192.168.1.223/24 to them, respectively.
• Deploy VRM and VCM on H3C IMC. VCM manages VSI Types to implement automatic
association between VM lifecycle and network policies.
Configuration procedures
The VCM EVB scheme configuration includes the following tasks:
• Configuring the HP 5900v virtual switch
• Configuring the HP Comware-based switch
• Configuring IMC
• Configuring VCM
• Creating a connection
Configuring the HP 5900v virtual switch
The HP 5900v is a virtual switch designed for data center virtualization. It runs on top of the VMware
vSphere Enterprise Plus Edition, and works seamlessly with the vCenter Server and VMware ESXi hosts.
Deploying the HP 5900v on ESXi host A
This section describes only the property configuration during the deployment of the HP 5900v, including
configuring the IMC server and vCenter Server. For more information about how to deploy the HP
5900v, see HP FlexFabric Virtual Switch 5900v Installation Guide.
If you have deployed the VCE, but the IMC server parameters are incorrect, you can correct the
configuration by registering the VCE plug-in on VCM, without deploying the VCE again. For more
information, see "
Managing the VCE plug-in ."
To configure the IMC server and vCenter Server:
