NOTE

On a non POS module, BFD makes use of PBIF transmit assist to send out the packets with the
maximum transmit interval of 6.4 seconds.

Displaying BFD neighbor information

The following example illustrates the output from the show bfd neighbor command.

Syntax: show bfd neighbor [interface ethernet slot/port | interface ve port-no]

The interface ethernet option displays BFD neighbor information for the specified ethernet
interface only.

The interface ve option displays BFD neighbor information for the specified virtual interface only.

This display shows the following information.

LP

The number of the interface module that the Current Session Count is
displayed for.

Sessions

The number of Transmit (Tx) and Receive (Rx) BFD sessions currently
operating on the specified interface module.

BFD Enabled ports count

The number of ports on the device that have been enabled for BFD.

Port

The port that BFD is enabled on.

MinTx

The interval in milliseconds between which the device desires to send a
BFD message from this port to its peer.

MinRx

The interval in milliseconds that this device desires to receive a BFD
message from its peer on this port.

Mult

The number of times that the device will wait for the MinRx time on this
port before it determines that its peer device is non-operational.

Sessions

The number of BFD sessions originating on this port.

this device.

NeighborAddress

The IPv4 or IPv6 address of the remote peer.

State

The current state of the BFD session:

Up
Down
A.DOWN – The administrative down state.
INIT – The Init state.
UNKNOWN – The current state is unknown.
