te failure in the pumps, motors, or cylinder, evidence of rubber particles on the filter ele‑
ment that may indicate deterioration of hose, O‑ring, or other rubber components;

3. fuel filter for function;
4. fan belts for adjustment and excessive wear;
5. hydraulic hoses for cracks, leaks, and blistering, and evidence of excessive abrasion on

all flexible and rigid hoses;

6. hydraulic pumps and motors for cracks or leaks, leaks at joints, seal leaks, loss of opera‑

ting speed, excessive heating of fluid, and loss of pressure;

7. hydraulic cylinders for drifting caused by fluid leak across the holding valve or the

piston, rod seal leakage, scored and nicked cylinder rods, dented barrel, and unusual
noises or vibration;

8. all control mechanisms for wear and response time;
9. interlocks, slope warning system, and limit switches;
10. all chain and cable mechanisms for adjustment and worn or damaged parts;

C – ANNUAL INSPECTIONS

This inspection shall be performed annually
A complete inspection of the aerial platform shall be performed by a qualified person. The
inspection shall comply with the requirements of point A and B and shall include, but not be
limited to, all critical and suspect areas and all accessible structural elements and welds, such
as the following:
1.

outrigger and outrigger housing (boxes), including the underside of the housing;

2. platform rotating, elevating, and levelling mechanisms;
3. main turret rotating mechanism, including the condition and torque of the ring gear

bolts;

4. brakes;
5. all tie down points;
6. boom sections, pins, cylinder rod ends, and levelling devices;
7. switches for wiring and all electrical connections;
8. The constructor's outstanding safety bulletins;

D‑ STRUCTURAL INSPECTION

A structural inspection is required to verify the structural integrity of critical components of
the aerial platform and shall be performed:
1. 10 years after the date of manufacture and every 5 years thereafter;
2. after any actual, suspected, or potential damage is sustained during an incident that

could potentially affect the structural integrity or stability of the aerial platform. Such
incidents can include electrical contact, shock loads, fall arrest, collision, or cases of over‑
stressing or stability failure;
