Set up Devices

FactoryTalk EnergyMetrix software uses Device Classes to determine how to interact with
a particular device. The device class includes the device family, communication type and
whether the device has a clock that can be synchronized.

The following device classes are supported in FactoryTalk EnergyMetrix software.

PowerMonitor 5000 Unit on an EtherNet/IP Network

Connects to an Allen-Bradley PowerMonitor 5000 M5 and/or M6 model on an EtherNet/
IP network.

Wireless PowerMonitor W250 Unit

FactoryTalk EnergyMetrix software uses an integral Modbus RTU master driver to
communicate with this class of device. The device must be installed in a properly

a wireless PC Receiver connected with the FactoryTalk EnergyMetrix server using serial
or Ethernet communication.
