IDEC SmartRelay shows the following display:

To set the display contrast in programming mode:
If you want to set the display contrast in programming mode,
select ’Setup’ in the main menu, then menu ’Contrast’. You
can now set the display contrast as described earlier (as of
step 8.).
To set the back light choice in parameter assignment mode:
1. Select parameter assignment mode (see Chapter 5.1.)
2. On the parameter assignment menu,

select ’Set’: Press or
3. Confirm ’Set..’: Press OK
4. On the Set menu, select ’LCD’: Press or
5. Confirm ’LCD..’: Press OK
6. Move the ’>’ cursor to ’BackLight’: Press or
7. Confirm ’BackLight’: Press OK
8. Move the ’>’ cursor to ’Default’ 
or ’AlwaysOn’: Press or
The default is that the back light is not on. To set the back
light to always be on, select the ’AlwaysOn’ choice.
To set the back light choice in programming mode:
If you want to set the backlight choice in programming mode,
select ’Setup’ in the main menu, then menu ’LCD’. You can
now set the back light choice as described earlier (as of step
6.).
Note
The backlight lifetime of the Text Display is 20,000 hours.
