Establishing a logical path in the reverse direction

The procedure for establishing a logical path in the reverse direction is the same as the procedure
for establishing a logical path in the forward direction. However, the following must be completed
before you can establish a logical path in the reverse direction:

A forward direction logical path must already be established.

For more information about this, see

“Establishing a logical path” (page 605)

.

A route list must be defined in the forward direction and a command device must be registered
in the local and remote storage systems.

For more information about these operations, see

“Setting up the Remote DKC Control Function

environment” (page 131)

.

A disk configuration definition file containing the command device at the secondary site must
be created.

This file is created from a secondary site local or remote scan.

CAUTION:

If the Remote DKC Control Function environment has not been set up, an attempt to

establish a path from the secondary site to the primary site will fail with an error (Manage Path
Set

) during the path establishment step, even though a path set can be defined.

Deleting a logical path

You can select logical paths for deletion by specifying an attribute for the share in the SHR in the
Edit Logical Path Definition ISPF panel.

Specifying Y in the SHR deletes the path only when the FORCE parameter is specified. Specifying
N

in the SHR always deletes the path regardless of whether the FORCE parameter is specified.

CAUTION:

If separate path set definition files are created to define each copy group, and the

same logical path is defined in more than one path set definition file, do not delete shared paths
until the operations on all copy groups have finished.

Defining a journal group with path group IDs

This section explains how to define a journal group with path group IDs.

To define a new journal group:

1.

Set the path group IDs when defining the inter-disk controller logical paths.

From the Edit Logical Path Definition panel, specify the path group IDs in the range from 00
to FF. Set the same value for the path group ID in the forward direction (Primary) and the
path group ID in the reverse direction (Secondary).

2.

Establish the paths.

From the Manage Path Set panel, establish the inter-disk controller logical paths.

3.

Specify the path group IDs when defining a journal group.

From the Setting C/T ID Attributes panel or the Copy Group Attribute (CAJ) panel, specify the
path group IDs set when defining inter-disk controller logical paths.

4.

Create copy pairs for the journal group.

From the Manage Copy Groups panel, create copy pairs for the journal group.
