This section provides examples of BCM Monitor operations for backing up data or monitoring the
occurrences of failures.

Backup operation example

This section describes the procedure for using Business Copy to perform daily backups on the
secondary site in a 2DC configuration that uses Continuous Access Journal and Business Copy. In
these examples, the administrator only uses Business Continuity Manager to suspend Continuous
Access Journal copy groups. Subsequent processes are automatically executed by BCM Monitor.

Example configuration for backup operation

The procedure for backup operations are shown using the example configuration in

“Example

configuration of backup operation using BCM Monitor” (page 689)

. In this example, Continuous

Access Journal copy group (MYUR) and Business Copy copy group (MYSI) are created. The
Continuous Access Journal copy group is operated in DUPLEX status, and the Business Copy copy
group is operated in SUSPOP status.
