host identification
name

A name specified to identify a mainframe when the volume information for multiple mainframe
hosts is obtained. This name is specified by using the initialization parameter HOSTNAME of the
Business Continuity Manager agent.

HTTPS

HyperText Transfer Protocol Security.

HyperSwap

Function for automatically switching, by using TPC-R, the I/O destination volume from the P-VOL
to the S-VOL during a failure or maintenance. This requires that both the P-VOL and S-VOL storage
systems be connected to the same host. There are two types of HyperSwaps: Basic HyperSwaps
and GDPS (Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex) HyperSwaps.

I

ID

Identifier.

initialization
parameter

A parameter used for setting up the environment of the Business Continuity Manager agent at
the startup of the agent. The following settings are available by using this parameter: port number,
reception wait time, host identification name, prefix, DAD ID on the local site, route list ID, device
number, and log output level.

initiator port

A FC interface port on the MCU. This port is connected to the RCU by a FC interface (FIBRE)
cable.

inter-control unit
logical path

A virtual channel established between CUs where physical paths exist. Once an inter-control unit
logical path is established, communication (remote copying) is enabled between the P-VOL used
by Cnt Ac-S/TCA in the MCU and the S-VOL used by Cnt Ac-S/TCA in the RCU.

inter-disk controller
logical path

A virtual channel established between a primary DKC and a secondary DKC when at least one
physical path exists between any MCU in the primary DKC and any RCU in the secondary DKC.
Once an inter-disk controller logical path is established, communication (remote copying) is
enabled between the P-VOL used by Cnt Ac-J in the primary DKC and the S-VOL used by Cnt
Ac-J in the RCU.

IPv4

Internet Protocol Version 4.

IPv6

Internet Protocol Version 6.

ISPF

Interactive system productivity facility.

J

JCL

Job Control Language.

JES startup
procedure

A cataloged procedure to start JES (Job Entry System).

journal cache

A memory cache installed in the DKC used by Cnt Ac-J. Update data to a data volume may be
saved temporarily in memory as a journal cache during journal creation processing before it
serves as a journal.

journal group

A group used for Cnt Ac-J. A unit used to preserve consistency in the update sequence when
updating volumes.

Journal set up for
a 3DC (Cnt Ac-J Z
x Cnt Ac-J Z)
configuration

A journal set up for a 3DC (Cnt Ac-J Z x Cnt Ac-J Z) configuration, which is a 3DC configuration
that consists of three Continuous Access Journal Z sites. A journal is set up for use in a 3DC (Cnt
Ac-J Z x Cnt Ac-J Z) configuration when a journal is registered from Remote Web Console.

L

LDEV

Logical device.

local DKC

One of the two storage systems connected to the primary host in a 2DC configuration with
HyperSwap and Cnt Ac-J.

local scan

A function to acquire disk configuration information about the volumes on the local storage system
that are recognized by the operating system (the Gen'ed volume).

log dataset

A dataset which the log is written to.
