path group ID

An ID for differentiating multiple inter-disk controller logical paths established between the same
storage systems. By specifying path group IDs in a journal group, inter-disk controller logical
paths can be assigned to each journal group. Up to eight physical paths can be specified for
one path group ID.

path set

A set of inter-control unit paths or inter-disk controller logical paths. The unit for controlling logical
paths.

physical DKC serial
number

A number assigned to each storage system.

physical path

A path connected via a FC interface cable or serial interface (ESCON) cable, to connect initiator
ports and target ports.

planned outage

Planned stoppage of an operating site, such as for maintenance. This is used to minimize
application stoppage by migrating the application to one or more sites. After the stopped site
has been recovered, any content that was updated on one or more sites needs to be applied.

PPRC

An IBM backup product that executes synchronous copies without passing through the host.

PPRC copy pair for
which HyperSwaps
are enabled

A PPRC Cnt Ac-S copy pair for which HyperSwaps can be performed. TPC-R can be used to
create these copy pairs. You can define a Cnt Ac-S copy pair as a Cnt Ac-S copy pair with the
HyperSwap attribute by using the YKH2B command in Business Continuity Manager, making it
possible to use Business Continuity Manager to monitor or dissolve the Cnt Ac-S copy pair.

primary DAD

Device address domain that contains the P-VOLs in a copy group.

primary site

A generic term for a primary host or a primary DKC, or a site where they are located. This site
normally runs applications and is the source for backup copies.

R

RACF

An IBM security management product.

RCU

Remote control unit.

RECFM

Record format.

remote command
device

An arbitration command device of the subordinate DKC, which is mapped to the supervisor DKC
as an external volume.

remote control unit

A disk control unit that controls the S-VOL of a Cnt Ac-S/TCA/Cnt Ac-J copy pair.

remote scan

A function to acquire disk configuration information about the volumes on a storage system that
has no channel connection to the host.

remote storage
system

A storage system that is not directly connected to the primary host.

Remote Web
Console

A browser-based program installed on the SVP that allows you to configure and manage the disk
array.

REPORT command

An operator command used to display the information about copy groups monitored by BCM
Monitor. You can specify this command in the MODIFY command to display the number of copy
pairs in various copy pair statuses, the details for each copy pair, and the operational information
and consistency information for copy groups.

restore journal

The copy destination journal for Cnt Ac-J.

resync copy

This function executes the YKRESYNC command in the suspend status and uses differential data
copying to return the status to DUPLEX.

REXX

One of the structured programming languages developed by IBM. Mainly used on the IBM
mainframe OS and used as the macro language for calling applications and OS functions.

route label

A label added to select the command device lines to be used when multiple command device
lines are defined for a route.
