A single execution of the YKLOAD command might expand multiple REXX variable structures.
Therefore, if you only drop certain REXX variable structures, the copy group might not be operated
correctly. If you want to correctly drop all related REXX variable structures simultaneously, use the
YKDROP
command. For details on the REXX variable structures expanded by the YKLOAD command,
see the description provided in the HP XP7 for Business Continuity Manager Reference Guide.
Acquiring Copy Pair Status
You can use the YKLOAD command to reference information in XML files from a REXX script.
However, when checking the actual copy pair status from a script, you must use the YKQUERY
command to acquire the information. The YKQUERY command allows you to acquire the status of
several copy pairs in a copy group simultaneously by simply specifying the copy group structure
generated by the YKLOAD command. If you specify the DEVN parameter, you can acquire the
status of a single copy pair.
Creating and Dissolving Copy Pairs
The YKMAKE command is used to make all copy pairs in a copy group, and the YKDELETE
command is used to dissolve all of the copy pairs in a copy group.
When copying to the secondary site is no longer necessary, dissolve the copy status. To dissolve
a copy status, execute the YKDELETE command. When the YKDELETE command is executed, the
copy group is moved to the SIMPLEX status, and returns to the status it was in before the operation.
Changing the Copy Pair Status
Business Continuity Manager can change the collective status of copy pairs. For example, to change
the status of a copy pair to SUSPOP, use the YKSUSPND command to specify the copy group whose
status you want to change to SUSPOP.
Monitoring the Copy Pair Status
Completion of a command that operates on a copy pair does not mean completion of the copy
pair operations for the entire copy group. To confirm the completion of copy pair operations, use
the YKEWAIT command to monitor the copy pair status.
The YKEWAIT command cannot confirm the completion of copy pair operations until the volume
status has changed. Depending on the status of the volume, the response time of the YKEWAIT
command might be long.
When using the YKEWAIT command, consider executing scripts in a batch.
Checking the copy group configuration
If the information in the copy group definition file does not match the actual copy group
configuration, copy operations cannot be performed correctly. For this reason, if you change the
copy group configuration, you need to make sure that the new copy group configuration matches
the copy group definition file. To check the copy group configuration, you can use the YKQUERY
command with the VERIFY parameter. If the return code of the command is 12, then there is an
inconsistency between the copy group definition file and the actual configuration. Note that if you
periodically check the copy group configuration, you can avoid unexpected invalid copy operations.
