Note the following points when you monitor the copy status:

To immediately detect that Cnt Ac-S Z copy groups have changed to the SUSPER status, you
must shorten the interval for monitoring the copy status. This operation is required to minimize
the loss of data. Note that when the Cnt Ac-S Z consistency preservation function is used, if
the SUSPER status is prolonged, the P-VOL changes to the SCP status, and the applications on
the primary host might be stopped. When the Cnt Ac-S Z consistency preservation function is
used, the monitoring interval needs to be set so that I/O patrol detection is avoided.

You must perform error monitoring for Cnt Ac-J Z copy groups at appropriate intervals. A Cnt
Ac-J Z copy group failure does not cause a problem such as application termination. However,
it might cause the loss of data when the primary and intermediate sites are damaged by a
disaster.

The following explains operations when a SUSPER status is detected during copy status monitoring
from the primary host.

When the Cnt Ac-S consistency preservation function is not used

If the SUSPER status is detected for a Cnt Ac-S copy group.

Determine the cause of the failure, and then restore the copy group according to the failure.
After restoration, execute the YKSUSPND SELECT(COND) VOLUNIT command for the Cnt
Ac-S copy group and then execute the YKSUSPND SELECT(COND) VOLUNIT command for
the Cnt Ac-J Z copy group. Lastly, execute the YKRESYNC SELECT(COND) VOLUNIT
command for the Cnt Ac-S copy group, and then execute the YKRESYNC SELECT(COND)
VOLUNIT

command for the Cnt Ac-J Z copy group.

If the SUSPER status is detected for a Cnt Ac-J Z copy group.

Error monitoring for the Cnt Ac-S copy group continues. Determine the cause of the failure,
and then restore the copy group according to the failure. After restoration, execute the
YKRESYNC SELECT(COND) VOLUNIT

command for the Cnt Ac-J Z copy group.
